One of our more in depth projects of the past year was this 1988 Mazda RX-7 which came in for a full build.
Visibly lots of stuff to do on this bad boy. As one may guess from looking at the pictures, this car is very similar to the one used by Ryosuke Takahashi in the Initial D comic, and this build would pull a lot of visual inspiration from that car.
Lots of bodywork would be necessary from top to bottom to make this car look as good as when it came out of the factory.
On top of the necessary body work to fix all of the rust, the bodykit of choice for this car was actually only made for the S5 FC3S, and not the S4 (which this car is). Due to the different shape of the trim on the S5 bumper, all trim now needed to be swapped over to S5 for the complete, clean look.
Once all the body work was complete, as well as the bodykit installed, it was time for paint!
Now all that was left was to get everything back together, as well as installing a new set of rims and coilovers to really dial in the aggressive touge-racer look of this car!
